The Culver Lions
Club – Founded May 1943
The Culver Lions Club
is one of the most active Lions Clubs in Indiana. Seventy members strong
and growing, we actively embrace the Lions Club creed “WE SERVE”.
Membership in the
Culver Lions provides you the opportunity to get involved in community
projects of all types, to meet and get to know your neighbors, enjoy good
food, a laugh or two, and through hard work and sharing, a strong sense of
being a part of the beautiful, unique community that is Culver.
While the Culver Lions
actively supports Lions International programs like the Eye Bank, Leader
Dog, and Cancer Control programs; we take a very pro-active stance in local
affairs through our work with Culver Community Schools, Park programs, and other civic
organizations like the Culver Kiwanis. The Culver Lions provide both
funds and volunteer hours to many area charities, school, and civic
programs.

Vandalia Railroad
Depot
The Culver Lions Club
meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at our home – the
historic Vandalia Railroad Depot on the shore of Lake Maxinkuckee
in the Culver Town Park.
The Culver Lions
lovingly restored this historic building several years ago through
energetic fund raising, valuable support from the community at large,
financial assistance from the Marshall County Community Foundation and
other philanthropic organizations, and countless volunteer labor
hours. As leaseholder, the club is the sole caretaker of this historic
building and works to maintain the structure’s historical
significance. It is listed in Indiana’s Historic Sites Registry and
has received The Historical Landmark Award from Marshall County Historical
Society.
For wonderful
historical photos and writings about the depot you can go to the
Culver/Union Township Library’s web site at www.culver.lib.in.us
!
Along with being the
home of the Culver Lions’ regular meetings and our special fund raising
events; the Culver Lions offers the free use of the building for various
civic and charity events as a community service. The building, which
includes a full service, commercial style kitchen, is also available to the
general public to rent for special events such as weddings, reunions, and
graduation events. The facility is smoke free and alcohol free.
